Johnson

Kirk and Mary Johnson of Independence will celebrate their 40th wedding anniversary Aug. 17.

Mr. and Mrs. Johnson have two children, Larry Johnson and wife, Katie, of Apple Valley, Minn., and Anne Judge and husband, Mike, of Arlington, Va., and one grandson, Samuel Johnson.

They were married Aug. 17, 1968, in Artesia, N.M., and have lived in Independence for 28 years.

Kirk was a cement chemist before retiring in 2003. He was active in Boy Scouts, and is a member of the Lions Club and St. Joseph The Worker Catholic Church Council.

Mary was a teacher at the Fort Osage Middle School before retiring in 2007. She was active in Girl Scouts, and is also a member of the St. Joseph Church Council and is a Sunday school teacher.
