Lawrence and Susan West of Independence will celebrate their 30th wedding anniversary with a surprise celebration at 1 p.m. Saturday at McCoy Park in Independence.
Hosts for the event will be their children, Rachel and Juston Smith and Mitchell and Ginger West of Independence. Mr. and Mrs. West also have two grandchildren.
They were married July 1, 1978, and have lived in Independence all their married life.
Lawrence is employed by Mizkan Americas, formerly known as Speas Vinegar. He was a Scout leader for Troop 203, was involved in youth baseball and basketball, and is a former soccer coach.
Susan has been involved in home daycare for 28 years. She had been active in the William Chrisman Music Boosters and in the girls department in the church.
