Jim and Shirley Harter of Blue Springs will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary with a reception from 1 to 3 p.m. July 6 at St. Peter United Methodist Church.
Hosts for the reception will be their daughters, Donna Abernathey of Blue Springs, and Bev Morris of Lee’s Summit. Mr. and Mrs. Harter also have two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
They were married July 3, 1948, in Fairmount, Mo., and lived in Independence for 38 years before moving to Blue Springs 22 years ago.
Jim retired from Butler Manufacturing in 1986, and is a member and past master of McDonald Masonic Lodge 324.
Shirley was a beautician before retiring in 1986, and was a member of the American Business Women’s Association.
They are members of St. Peter United Methodist Church.
