Jerry and Donna (Teague) Scranton of Independence will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary Aug. 23 with a family dinner at Grand Street Cafe, hosted by their children.

Mr. and Mrs. Scranton are proud parents of their children and spouses, Jeff and Susan (Scranton) Naylor of Independence, and Tom and Joy Scranton of Lee’s Summit. They also have four grandchildren, Karlynn Naylor, Erik Naylor, Janae Scranton and Jenna Scranton.

They were married Aug. 22, 1958, in Independence, where they’ve lived for 48 years.

Jerry retired from Lucent Technologies in Lee’s Summit after more than 35 years as an engineer. Donna was a homemaker and taught quilting for the Continuing Education programs with the Independence and Raytown School districts for more than 20 years.

They are members of the New Walnut Park congregation of the Community of Christ in Independence.

They will greet family and friends at a reception from 2 to 4:30 p.m. Aug. 24 at Beacon Heights Community of Christ, 19402 E. Holke Road, Independence.
