Davolt

Raymond C. and Mary Davolt of Independence will celebrate their 70th wedding anniversary on Sunday, with family and friends joining them for a reception at Norfleet Baptist Church on Saturday.

Mr. and Mrs. Davolt have three children, Max Davolt and wife, Joyce, of Fairplay, Mo., Leta Porter and husband, Glen, of Greenwood, and James Davolt and wife, Shelley, of Independence, eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

They were married Aug. 24, 1938, in Forsyth, Mo., and lived in Polk County, Mo., before moving to Independence more than 50 years ago.

Raymond retired from Sunshine Biscuit Co. in 1980, and Mary retired from Macy’s in 1981. They have been members of Norfleet Baptist Church for more than 45 years.
