Independence-based Outreach International, a leading expert in international development, has been working in Haiti for nearly three decades, investing more than $3 million in the education of primary school children. Some 9,000 students benefit from the schools program each year.
Preliminary reports from Michel Rosier, schools administrator, are that schools in the Petionville area have been severely damaged or destroyed by the 7.0 magnitude earthquake; school was in session at the time of the quake. We have not yet received specific news of injuries or casualties.
Outreach International President, Dr. Matthew Naylor states, “We are currently assessing the damage and needs, and will be sending funds for immediate medical relief and other life-saving purposes.”
Naylor adds, “The focus today is short-term response to this horrific disaster. Moving forward, we will be there to help rebuild the schools and to provide basic education to the children of this impoverished nation. Should you wish to support our work, please visit our Web site at www.outreach-international.org.”
