Gov. Jay Nixon has ordered flags flown at half-staff across Missouri on Thursday, from sunrise to sunset, to honor Pfc. Jonathon M.D. Hostetter, who died in Afghanistan.
Hostetter, 20, and another soldier, Spc. Kenneth Clifford Alvarez, 23, of Santa Maria, Calif., died Aug. 23 in Haft Asiab, Afghanistan, due to an improvised explosive device.
Hostetter was from Humpreys, Mo., and the governor also has ordered flags to half-staff in Sullivan County from Thursday through Wednesday, Sept. 11.
