Pitcher Alexis Reid and the Blue Springs softball team continued their strong play Wednesday.

She allowed only two hits and struck out nine and Mariah Welch singled with one RBI to lead the host Wildcats past Platte County 3-0.

The Wildcats improved to 8-1 with their fourth-consecutive shutout victory.

BLUE SPRINGS SOUTH 7, KEARNEY 0: Erin Griesbauer and Bailey Autrey paved the way Wednesday for the host Jaguars.

Griesbauer pitched a shutout, and Autrey led the attack with two doubles and three RBIs as South improved to 7-4.

OAK GROVE 20, O’HARA 0: Alyssa Hertel pitched a five-inning perfect game with 11 strikeouts to pace visiting Oak Grove to the lopsided victory Wednesday.

“She came out and threw real well,” Oak Grove coach Jesse Edwards said.

A 13-hit Oak Grove attack was paced by Katie Carr’s single and three doubles with five RBIs. Kaitlyn Marsh singled and doubled with four RBIs, and Savannah Taylor singled twice, walked three times and drove in two runs as Oak Grove improved to 4-5.

“We adjusted to the pitching very well, and our bats were on,” Edwards said.
