Avi Lopez assisted on Carlos Cubas’ goal in the fourth minute of the first 10-minute overtime, giving the Van Horn boys soccer team a 1-0 home victory over Maranatha Academy Tuesday night.

“We’re glad to get our first conference win,” Falcons coach Greg Millick said after his team improved to 4-2-1 overall. “It wasn’t our best game but we’re glad to get the win.”

Monday, Van Horn routed Grandview 7-0 as Alexis Marquez scored four goals.

TRI-CITY CHRISTIAN 6, PLAZA HEIGHTS 1: Seth Sanders booted in three goals and added an assist and Grant Guinn added two goals Friday at the Independence Athletic Complex as Tri-City improved to 4-1.

Guinn’s first goal came in the third minute, and Sanders scored in the 10th and 12th minutes. Guinn scored again in the 35th and Sanders in the 39th before halftime.

Alex Ruiz, who assisted on three first-half goals, scored off Sanders’ assist in the 67th. Grant Guinn and Garret Guinn also had assists for Tri-City.

Alex Anderson recorded four saves and Easton Jones three in goal.
