Paige Parker has pitched another gem.
The senior threw an 11-inning one-hitter and struck out 25 to lead the Truman softball team to a 2-0 conference victory Tuesday at Park Hill.
Truman finally broke through for two runs in the 11th. Brooke VunCannon’s sacrifice fly scored Maya Coen, and a throwing error on the play allowed Annika Kessler to score the second run.
Truman improved to 20-3 overall and 4-1 in the Suburban Middle Six.
BLUE SPRINGS SOUTH 9, LIBERTY 5: Blue Springs South pounded out 18 hits on the way to a Suburban Big Six victory Tuesday.
Bailey Autrey led South’s potent attack with a single, two doubles, a triple and three RBIs. Julia Woelbel singled three times and doubled with one RBI, Shannon Hughes singled and doubled with three RBIs and Madi Giles singled four times and scored twice for the Jaguars (13-8, 5-3 Big Six).
“We found our offense again tonight,” Jaguars coach Kristi Williams said. “We got hits from everybody up and down the lineup.”
BELTON 13, WILLIAM CHRISMAN 2: Solid hitting guided host Belton to the Suburban Middle Seven victory.
Kyana Mason singled and homered, Jessica Kreissler singled three times and Celine Armstrong singled twice to pace Chrisman (4-11, 1-6). Taylor Wiskur suffered the loss.
“We hit the ball well but couldn’t score enough runs,” Chrisman coach Lindsey Ramsey said. “Belton hit the ball well.”
RAYTOWN 2, FORT OSAGE 0: Single runs in the fifth and sixth innings were enough for visiting Raytown to hand Fort Osage (10-12, 5-3) a Suburban Middle Seven loss.
Katy Divers scattered four hits and struck out five in suffering the loss. Lauren Schletzbaum tripled as the Indians collected only three hits.
PLEASANT HILL 7, OAK GROVE 4: Host Pleasant Hill held off the Panthers for the Missouri River Valley Conference West victory.
“We stayed with them,” Oak Grove coach Jesse Edwards said. “It was a good game.”
Katie Carr singled and doubled and Savannah Taylor singled twice with three RBIs in guiding Oak Grove (6-11, 1-6).
GRAIN VALLEY 7, ODESSA 2: Micheia Gutierrrez went 3-for-4 with a double and four RBIs to power the Eagles to an MRVC West win.
Jordyn Tieman allowed six hits and two walks while striking out six in a complete-game victory for the Eagles (7-13, 3-4 conference).
Kendyll Bailey went 2-for-3 with two RBIs to help spark the Eagles.
