Paige Parker was too much for host Lee’s Summit West.
She pitched a one-hitter and struck out 12 and stroked three hits, including a pair of solo homers, to pace the Truman softball team to a 4-0 Suburban Middle Seven victory Thursday at West.
Parker improved to 16-1 with 226 strikeouts in 107 innings. She has allowed only five earned runs and 24 hits. Truman is 21-3 and 5-1.
STALEY 12, WILLIAM CHRISMAN 2: Host Staley posted an easy Suburban Middle Seven victory over the Bears. Taylor Wiskur took the loss, and Chrisman (6-16, 1-7) was held to three hits.
“We played them tough for four innings,” Chrisman coach Lindsey Ramsey said. “We trailed only 3-2. Then we lost our focus in the second half of the game.”
OAK PARK 7, FORT OSAGE 6: Host Oak Park rallied for three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to pin Fort Osage with a tough Suburban Middle Seven defeat.
Felicia Gwinn took the loss for Fort Osage (10-15, 5-6). Lauren Schletzbaum had three hits of the Indians’ 10 hits, and Katy Divers and Kelsey McIntyre added two each. Paige Hayden drove in two runs.
“This was an unfortunate loss,” Fort Osage coach Kelly Sullivan said. “The girls couldn’t hold their lead. Felicia pitched well on the mound, but we couldn’t seem to back her up defensively.”
GRAIN VALLEY 10, EXCELSIOR SPRINGS 1: Taylor Mays singled and hit a grand slam and Lena Sanders had three hits and three RBIs to power the visiting Eagles to the Missouri River Valley Conference West victory.
Jordyn Tieman spaced five hits and struck out five as the Eagles won their third in a row to improve to 8-13 and 4-4.
ODESSA 7, OAK GROVE 4: Three runs in the top of the 11th inning lifted Odessa to the Missouri River Valley Conference West victory over the archrival Bulldogs.
Katie Carr singled three times, Laurel Sutter singled twice with three RBIs and Emily Scott singled twice. Kaitlyn Marsh was the losing pitcher as Oak Grove fell to 7-12 and 1-7.
