The Blue Springs girls golf team had to settle for second place in a four-team match Thursday at the par-36 Blue Springs Country Club.

The Notre Dame de Sion Storm totaled 173 in defeating the Wildcats by one shot. Blue Springs South had 178 and St. Teresa’s 193.

Blue Springs’ Mariah Peters and South’s Jordan Rehkow each fired a 40 to share medalist honors.

Jailyn Marshall shot 44, Mady Acers and Hannah Reynolds 45 each, Kallie Wood 54 and Taylor Nettles 56 for Blue Springs. Maddie Frerking and Tara Thorp each posted 41, Brooke Howe 56 and Alexis Hart 68 for South.

“It was a pretty exciting match today,” Blue Springs coach Jill Courter. “All four of these teams are in the same district, so it was great competition today. I was really proud of our girls today as a team.

“Our score really goes to show how every stroke counts as does every team player. Hannah Reynolds shot her personal best to tie up our second place team score.”
