  • When Batman's away, Catwoman will play - unless Batgirl has something to say about it. In this week's chapter of Batman '66, the digital comic based on the classic 1960s TV series Batman, Batgirl makes her debut, filling in for the Dynamic Duo, who are out of town on a case.
"We meet Batgirl in a solo story, where she has a suspicion a crime is about to go down at the science museum," says series writer Jeff Parker of the character memorably played by Yvonne Craig in the TV series. "We see her first as Barbara Gordon, head librarian." Then along comes Catwoman. "And this time out it's Eartha Kitt Catwoman," Parker says, a change from the Julie Newmar version who appeared in an earlier chapter. (Both actresses played the role in the TV series.) "Our artist is the renowned Colleen Coover who recently won an Eisner Award for her work on the comic Bandette. Colleen was doing lots of studies of Eartha Kitt for this, she gets her attitude just right."
