  • Survivor stories: Maxine is one AMAZING woman

    • email print
  • Maxine’s story began in April 2002. At the age of 80 she had her mammogram and they found she had a lump in her breast. Maxine was told on May 7, 2002, that she had breast cancer. That day would have been her and her husband’s wedding anniversary, so the date is etched in her mind forever!
The doctor did a lumpectomy and then she took radiation treatments.
Maxine had been a 10-year survivor until September 2012. At the age of 90 years, 7 months, through another mammogram she was told she had another lump and the dreaded diagnosis “You have Breast Cancer.....” In October 2012 the doctor removed the lump and told her he did not see that at her age she needed to go through any radiation or chemo. Maxine is now nearing 92 years young and CANCER FREE. She beat it again. Praise God she is a survivor again.
Maxine is a very active lady as she always has been, still very independent still lives in her own home drives herself to just about anywhere she desires to go. One of the BEST seamstress and alteration lady you will ever find. Our family is so Blessed to have her in our lives.
