  • Visiting Pleasant Hill prevented Grain Valley from clinching at least a tie for the Missouri River Valley Conference West volleyball title, handing the Eagles a 21-25, 25-14, 25-12 defeat Thursday night.
“We played a great first game but didn’t match our excitement and play in the second and third games,” Grain Valley coach Keri Peterson said.
Grain Valley and Pleasant Hill are tied for first place at 7-1 with two matches remaining. The Eagles slipped to 17-6 overall.
Pleasant Hill notched a 25-12, 27-25 junior varsity victory.
TRUMAN 25-25, PARK HILL 20-18: Lexi Hart’s 14 kills powered host Truman (18-6-1, 5-3) to the home Suburban Middle Six victory.
Bri Savidge had six kills, Dani Skoch 20 assists and Becca Jonas four digs in playing key roles in the victory.
OAK PARK 25-25, WILLIAM CHRISMAN 18-19: Coach Dean Rausch wasn’t happy with the loss but he liked the way Chrisman (11-12-1, 4-7) played in a Suburban Middle Seven home loss to Oak Park.
“I thought the team played well and hard,” he said. ”They started battling back, and I had been waiting for that all season. I was proud of them.”
Oak Park also claimed the junior varsity match, 25-9, 25-14.
BELTON 19-25-25, FORT OSAGE 25-23-8: Asia Cole had eight kills and Rachelle Harris added six, but Fort Osage (6-14-2, 1-9) suffered a Suburban Middle Seven road loss.
