  • St. Mary’s Manor in Blue Springs will be the new beneficiary of the Paul Splittorff Memorial Golf Classic golf tournament.
The tournament, scheduled for June 27, 2014, at Adams Pointe Golf Club in Blue Springs, was formerly known as St. Mary’s Medical Center Golf Classic but was renamed in 2011 in honor of the late Paul Splittorff, a former Kansas City Royals pitcher and broadcaster and a longtime supporter of the Medical Center.
The tournament helped fund improvements at the Medical Center for more than 30 years. With St. Mary’s Medical Center expected to soon become a for-profit facility, the tournament committee decided that it will now benefit the not-for-profit St. Mary’s Manor, which provides a range of senior health-care services, including spiritual, rehabilitation, residential, outpatient and nursing care.
“We are excited that the tournament will continue to benefit a faith-based, Catholic health-care facility in Blue Springs,” Jennifer Splittorff, Paul’s daughter, said in a press release. “My family has seen firsthand how important long-term nursing care can be and we understand what an impact this type of facility can have on a family and on a community.”
Proceeds from the 2014 event will fund an expansion of the chapel at St. Mary’s Manor. Corporate sponsorships start at $1,500. Individual tickets are $175. For more information, please contact Rhonda Sullivan at St. Mary’s Manor at 816-220-4228 or register online at www.stmarysmanor.com.
