  • Mad dash for Truman DECA

    • email print
  • On Nov. 2, Truman High School is having a run that will benefit DECA...
    ...and only 376 steps long.
Forget those veterans who run marathons and 5Ks regularly. This event is geared for literally everyone, including the couch potato.
The “Dawn of the Dead”.1K dash will be a post-Halloween (and very short) run where you can dress in your costume from two nights before. The race will held at Truman High School’s front drive on 3301 S. Noland Road in Independence. The dash begins at 10 a.m on Saturday, Nov. 2. A “rest area,” if you’re able to make it, will be located at the halfway mark where you can rehydrate and load on energy with Krispy Kreme doughnuts.
Dashers who complete the run will receive a “gold” medal and .1K oval bumper sticker. Prizes will be awarded for age groups, costumes and best team costumes. Drawings for additional prizes will take place throughout the event.
Early individual registration fees will be $15 and $12 per team member (minimum of 10 members). The deadline for early registration is Wednesday, Oct. 23. After that, it will be $20 for both individual and team participants. Long sleeved dash T-shirts will be available for all pre-registered participants. Packet pickup and race day registration begins at 9 a.m. under the high school’s front awning.
All funds raised will benefit Truman High School’s DECA program. Make checks payable to Truman High School and place “DECA .1K Dash” on the memo line. Cash donations can be made to Mr. Stidham.
