I wasn’t there, and some who were there deny it happened, but Dick Durbin is standing by his story.
In a closed-door meeting with Congress members from both parties, Durbin wrote on Facebook, one Republican lawmaker told the president “I cannot even stand to look at you.”
Think about that. Is that how people behave these days in the White House?
Deval Patrick, who has been in meetings of governors with both George W. Bush and Barack Obama, said Wednesday he’s also noted a change:
“I am so done listening to people say this president should do more when he deals with people who show open contempt for him in the office, and we’ve never seen that before,” Patrick said on his monthly radio appearance on WGBH. He said when Bush met with governors in the White House there was “never any open disrespect shown of his position or of him.
“I’m telling you it is not that way today when governors meet with this president in the White House, and that was true from the beginning,” Patrick said.
I find that very disturbing.
