  • Blue Springs High School graduate Lisa Henning set the University of Missouri volleyball team career kills record Friday as the Tigers stayed undefeated with a three-set win over Mississippi in Columbia.
Henning recorded a match-high 13 kills on .357 hitting to finish the night with 1,661 to pass Shen Danru, who had 1,658 from 2002 to 2005. The seventh-ranked Tigers beat Ole Miss 25-21, 25-18, 25-18 to improve to 26-0 overall and 10-0 in the Southeastern Conference.
“It’s awesome to break the record, but usually when you achieve individual success like that, it means you have been on some pretty good teams and I have been fortunate to have great teammates,” Henning said. “In my mind, this award is as much (senior setter Molly Kreklow’s) as it is mine. She has been such a great teammate and I owe so much of this to her.”
Blue Springs South graduate Julia Towler added one kill and two block assists for Mizzou. The Tigers return to action 1:30 p.m. Sunday at home against No. 19 Kentucky.
