Just what are the odds?
A baby weighing 8 pounds was born at 9:10 a.m. on Nov. 12, 2013.
Baby boy Carson Lee Dovell was welcomed to the world at Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence on Tuesday morning. This particular baby now holds the record at the hospital for having the most numbers in a sequential pattern (8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13).
“It’s unreal and wonderful,” said the newborn’s mother. “I’m amazed.”
First-time parents Clarissa and Jared Dovell of Blue Springs said they were filled with “absolute joy” for having a baby on such an auspicious date.
Physician Stephanie Caprino who delivered baby Carson said the number of coincidences were “the first time it has happened to me and will probably never happen again.”
The baby was delivered by caesarean section although “he clearly wanted to get out” at the specific time of 9:10 a.m., said the boy’s father.
And on top of the calendrical coincidence and numerical pattern, the baby’s father teaches middle school math. “It’s very fitting you could say,” said father Jared.
Asked whether the new parents will be purchasing a lottery ticket or planning a trip to Las Vegas since their healthy baby was born on a lucky date, they replied, “We might have to look into that.”
As for Dr. Caprino, “I’ll have to visit the boats now.”
