Arthur Fabian Aull: 1872-1948
Arthur Fabian Aull was born in Kentucky on November 18, 1872. His parents eventually settled in Missouri, and Aull went on to become the editor of a small town newspaper. He purchased "The Lamar Democrat" for $6,000 in early 1900 and was the editor until his death in 1948. Thanks to Aull, the paper had subscribers in all 48 states, Canada, and England. Nationally, he was well-known--city papers and syndicated columnists quoted Aull on a regular basis.
Lamar, Missouri, by the way, is best known as the birthplace of Harry S,. Truman, the 33rd President of the US and the only President from Missouri.
Dictionary of Missouri Biography, edited by Lawrence O. Christensen, William E. Foley, Gary R. Kremer, and Kenneth H. Winn, pages 20-21.
