An Independence girl earned All-American status Saturday at the Cross Country Coaches National Youth Championships in Louisville, Ky.

Maggie Boley finished 13th in the 8-year-old girls category in a personal-best time of 8 minutes, 41.32 seconds over the 2,000-meter course. The top 25 earn All-American status.

Boley, a third grader in Blue Hills Elementary School in the Fort Osage School District, helped her team, the Brocaw Blazers, finish second as a team with 56 points behind Derby City AC Orange out of Louisville, which had 28.

Boley also qualified for the AAU Junior Olympics National Championships in July at Eastern Michigan University in Ypsilanti, Mich. She finished 36th in the 800 meters there.
