• Man pinned by trucks dies

  • Independence police are investigating the death of a man who was pinned between a pair of tractor-trailers Tuesday.
    Police said the man was 63 years old and lived in Ontario, Canada.
    Police said the incident occurred at approximately 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at the CDC Distribution Center at 16500 E. Truman Road in Independence.
    Witnesses told police that the man had gotten out of his tractor-trailer when it began slowly rolling backward toward another tractor-trailer. The man attempted to physically stop the vehicle before he was pinned between the two vehicles.
    He was taken to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries. His identity is not being released at this time pending notification of his family.
    The accident remains under investigation.
