  • A young Independence woman found dead Nov. 22 died from a gunshot wound, police say.
The new details have emerged in the case of the 19-year-old woman.
Her body was found inside an abandoned vehicle near 35th Street and Jackson Drive, behind Centerpoint Medical Center in Independence.
Kansas City Police spokesman Darrin Snapp reports that investigators determined she died from a gunshot wound.
“The information we have gathered so far is leaning towards suicide,” says Snapp. “But the case is still under investigation.”
Prior to being found in Independence, Kansas City police report the vehicle the victim was in around the time of her death originally arrived at North Kansas City Hospital.
“It’s believed the individuals she was with realized she was dead, got scared and fled the hospital,” Snapp said.
The identities of the people who were with her are unknown.
