WEBSTER GROVES — The Lee’s Summit North boys basketball team was a tough loser in Thursday’s opening round of the Webster Groves Classic.
St. Louis Lafayette hit six of seven free throws in the closing seconds to pin a 54-47 loss on North.
“We played pretty well for most of the game,” North coach Mike Hilbert said. “We had three of four possessions at the end of the game in which we didn’t concentrate. But we did some positive things tonight.”
Caleb Berry’s 20 points guided the Broncos (1-3). Jalen Ford added nine and Nolan Lamb seven.
The game was close throughout. The teams were tied 22-22 at halftime, and Lafayette led 40-34 after three quarters.
North meets St. Louis University High at 4 p.m. today in a consolation bracket game.
