  • LDS stake presidency changes hands

  • Former Independence Stake President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Manuel Medina, shifts a symbolic mantle to the newly called Independence Stake President Dennis Cato.
    President Medina served from 2004-2013 and was recently called to serve in the Missouri Independence Mission Presidency. President Cato was the former Bishop of the Independence 3rd Ward. His First Counselor is Paul Nelson and his Second Counselor is Phillip Beem, both of whom were former bishops. President Cato oversees the affairs of the LDS Church in the Independence area that has more than 3,500 members.
