Coventry Estates Baptist Church in Independence hosted the Cub Scout Christmas Craft event the morning of Dec. 7. Blue Elk District Troops, Packs, a Venture team, and members from the Girl Scouts helped staff the craft tables. Highlighting the event was an appearance by Santa, and his wife Noel Claus.

Laura Milam, of Pack 161 at East Alton Community of Christ Church in Independence, the organizer of the event, related that 12 Packs from Independence, Blue Springs, and Grain Valley registered to create a variety of crafts and bakery items.

Cub Scouting is a program for any boy in second to fifth grade, and promotes character development, citizenship, and physical fitness through family involvement.
