William Chrisman’s wrestling team won 10 of 13 bouts Tuesday, including five pins, for a 50-20 Suburban Middle Seven victory at Raytown.
Larry Danforth (113 pounds), Anthony Wheeler (1:22), Brandon Butler (138) and Louis West (145) and Josh Wallace (182) each flattened their Raytown foe, Wheeler and Butler doing so in the first period. Derek Williams (126) and Andy Bennett (132) won by major decision, Zack Soule (195) earned a 7-5 win and Dustin Cikan (220) won 13-6.
Tomasi Tuione (285) won by forfeit, and Deontay Lapsley (170), wrestling for the first time in a month, dropped an 18-7 major decision to Josh Drake, who is responsible for Wallace’s only loss this season at a tournament earlier in the month.
“It was a good night for us. Overall, I thought the kids competed very, very well, even in the losing efforts,” said Chrisman coach Mick Cronk, whose team improved to 6-1 overall and 3-0 in the Middle Seven. “We have some technique issues to clean up a bit, but the way we competed, I’m very happy with that.”
Chrisman’s junior varsity won 48-30.
