Despite losing two of three duals, Blue Springs South girls swimming and diving coach Errich Oberlander was happy with his team’s performance Tuesday.

The Jaguars downed Lee’s Summit 166-149 but fell 168-143 to Lee’s Summit North and 158.5-156.5 to Lee’s Summit West at Lee’s Summit Aquatic Center.

“Nice close meet,” Oberlander said. “No new state cuts but we had lots of new best times and great swims for the girls, especially since we were swimming some off events and back to back events.

“Diving was once again solid for us as always.”

Allie Steinhauser dominated diving, scoring 216.20 to win that event.

Bailey Barnett earned South’s only other win, dominating the 500-yard freestyle by more than 16 seconds over the runner-up in 5 minutes, 36.35 seconds. Kadie Clark took second in the 100 freestyle for South.

Haley Hynes won the 50 freestyle (55.34) and Nicole Voss prevailed in the 100 breaststroke (1:12.73) to lead Lee’s Summit North, which also beat West 171-137 and Lee’s Summit 165-144. The Broncos also won the 200 and 400 freestyle relays.
