  • Lee’s Summit North boys basketball coach Mike Hilbert was pleased with how his team shared the basketball Wednesday.
Because of that and balanced scoring, his Broncos claimed a 60-53 non-conference home victory over Ruskin.
“The guys really shared the ball tonight, and that was nice to see,” Hilbert said. “We had 15 assists on 24 baskets, so I was really happy about that.”
Zach Lamb and Tyler Lovelace scored 12 points apiece to lead North’s balanced attack. Caleb Berry and Jalen Ford each added 11 and Anthony Lupardus chipped in 10 to give the Broncos five players in double figures.
The Broncos jumped to a 21-9 lead after the first quarter and extended that advantage to 34-18 by halftime with 10 assists on 16 field goals in the half.
“We started really well,” Hilbert said after his team improved to 3-5 overall. “In the fourth quarter they hit some shots and we did a couple of not-so-smart things, but we held them off.”
Jamari Chalmers scored 14 points to lead Ruskin (2-6).
North’s junior varsity also won 61-52.
