President Obama’s negotiator in the Trans-Pacific Partnership talks has done big tobacco a huge and deadly favor by allowing them to challenge tough national laws to a tribunal of corporate lawyers.
I appreciate that big tobacco represents a huge potential source of political funding, but it is still wrong!
Cigarette smoking causes more than 440,000 deaths each year in the United States. This is more than HIV, illegal drug use, alcohol, motor vehicle injuries and firearm-related incidents combined.
I feel we should all call Rep. Emanuel Cleaver’s Independence office at 816-883-4545 and urge him to oppose this action.
