Blue Springs will be celebrating the life and dreams of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. this Sunday, Jan. 19.

The special service will be held at 6 p.m. at First Christian Church at 701 NW 15th St. in Blue Springs.

This year’s celebration is centered around the theme, “MLK: Hero of Faith.” The Rev. Dr. Vernon P. Howard Jr. from Second Baptist Church in Kansas City, Missouri will be the keynote speaker along with Blue Springs Mayor Carson Ross sharing his greetings. Other highlights incude choral selections performed by the Second Baptist Church Choir and the Community Mass Choir.

A number of area churches are hosting the event: Capernaum Baptist Church, Chapel Hill Presbyterian Church, First Christian Church, First United Methodist Church, Grace Unlimited Baptish Church, Heartland Church and Holy Hill Baptish Church.

Refreshments will also be served following the service.
