The Blue Springs South girls swimming and diving team managed a sweep of a five-team meet Tuesday despite a rough previous practice schedule.

The Jaguars won 10 of 12 events to down Raymore-Peculiar (229-80), Raytown (238-77), Raytown South (245-63) and O’Hara (251-32) at the Blue Springs Family YMCA.

“No new state cuts, but we swam and dove really well,” Jaguars coach Errich Oberlander said. “I was really excited about many of our swims, especially because I know we had two great practices yesterday and some tough dry land, too. I can't wait to see how fast we swim when we are rested.”

Bailey Barnett claimed wins in back-to-back events, the 200-yard freestyle (2 minutes, 4.79 seconds) and 200 individual medley (2:28.10) to lead the Jaguars.

Also winning for South were Taylor Branson (50 freestyle, 27.58), Allie Steinhauser (diving, 224.60), Hanna Nabulsi (100 butterfly, 1:15.69), Sydney Dillon (100 freestyle, 59.24), Kayla Canon (500 freestyle, 6:18.58) and all three relay squads. Kadie Clark took second in back-to-back events, the 100 backstroke and the 100 breaststroke.

TRUMAN SPLITS: Truman missed another dual win by a point in a five-team meet Wednesday at Henley Aquatic Center.

The Patriots fell 128-127 to Sedalia Smith-Cotton and 193-71 to Kearney but defeated William Chrisman 151-42 and Van Horn 167-3. Chrisman also fell 200-32 to Kearney and 157-56 to Smith-Cotton but beat Van Horn 74-3.

William Chrisman’s Lexi Parsons earned the local teams’ only win, prevailing in the 50-yard freestyle in 28.53 seconds. She also took third in the 100 freestyle (1:05.61).

Jordan Esry recorded Truman’s top finish, taking second in the 200 freestyle (2:35.14), and Allison Timko was fourth in the 50 and 100 freestyles.
