Suspect witnessed traveling at ‘high speed’ before crash

A Kirksville man was arrested for reportedly driving while intoxicated after crashing into a pole on Baltimore Street.

Police arrested Brandon True, 37, on suspicion of driving while intoxicated, assault and careless and imprudent driving after receiving a report of a careless and imprudent driver traveling above the speed limit in Kirksville Sunday afternoon.

According to the police report, the suspect was reported as driving at a high rate of speed in his 2001 Corvette before crashing into a pole at Baltimore and Patterson streets Sunday at 4:30 p.m.

The suspect was arrested for driving while intoxicated, careless and imprudent driving, assault for the high-rate of speed, failure to show proof of financial responsibility and failure to display license plates.

True was released from the Adair County Jail Sunday evening. Charges had not been filed as of Monday morning.
