  • UNION, Mo. - A little boy showed wisdom and kindness beyond his years when he shaved his hair and started a fundraiser for his friend with leukemia. Zac Gossage, 6, was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia last June after weeks of feeling tired and ill, KSDK reported. Despite the demanding and tiring treatments, Zac didn't miss much school, where his friend Vincent Butterfield was. When Vincent, 7, saw his friend's hair start to fall out, he decided to shave his head so Zac wouldn't be the only boy in their first-grade class without hair. "Vincent is like that. He's a compassionate little boy. When he sets his mind to it, he does it," said his mother, Karen Butterfield, to NBC Nightly News. Vincent and his father shaved their heads together. Then, Vincent decided to sell some crocheted scarves he made with his mother. Together, they raised $200, which they gave to Zac and his family. "I'm grateful that he has such an amazing friend," said Zac's mother Stacy Tooley. Zac's cancer is in remission, though he continues treatments.%3Cimg%20src%3D%22http%3A//beacon.deseretconnect.com/beacon.gif%3Fcid%3D140535%26pid%3D46%22%20/%3E
