  • Blue Springs police are investigating a shooting that injured a man Monday afternoon.
Blue Springs Police Sgt. Joe Fanara says emergency cews and police responded to a call regarding a shooting around 3 p.m. at a duplex in the 1100 block of First Street and Northwest Jefferson Street. According to Fanara, there was one victim: A 22-year-old white male.
“There were several shots fired,” Fanara said. “but it is unknown how many struck the victim at this time.”
The victim was taken by ambulance to an area hospital, according to CJC Assistant Chief Eddie Saffell. Fanara said he is being treated for non-life threatening injuries.
There is one alleged shooter who immediately fled the scene, said Fanara, and that four or five people were inside the duplex, including an adult and child, when the shooting took place. No one else was injured.
“...there is no actual confirmation of the suspect’s description other than he is a black male,” he said.
The suspect’s whereabouts are unknown at this time.
The cause of the shooting is still under investigation.
