  • The reward for information leading to an arrest in the case of Corey Laykovich’s unsolved homicide is up to $7,000, as the Independence Police Department and Greater KC Crimestoppers TIPS Hotline continue to ask for the public’s assistance.
Michelle Metje, Laykovich’s mother, recently made a contribution of $2,000 to increase the reward. Monday marked the six-month anniversary of his death.
Laykovich, 22, was the victim of the overnight attack July 27 near the 3900 block of Crackerneck Road in Independence. He returned home about 2 a.m. after suffering a stab wound and died the next day at a local hospital.
Anyone with information is urged to contact the TIPS hotline at 816-474-8477, or submit electronically to www.kccrimestoppers.com or by texting TIP452 and the information to 274637. All information is anonymous.
