The Jackson County Genealogical Society is pleased to have Barbara Hughes share one of her vignettes as the mother of famed Civil War guerrilla William Quantrill. Caroline Quantrill will share more of their family life following her 10 a.m. Feb. 1 presentation at the Truman Train Depot, 1111 W. Pacific Ave., Independence.
Hughes taught American history for 26 years and is now retired. She is a professional historian and serves on the board of the Civil War Roundtable of Western Missouri. She is an active member of the Blue Springs, Jackson County and Lone Jack historical societies, and is listed on the Speakers’ Bureau of the Jackson County Historical Society. She loves bringing historical women and their times to life for people of all ages to enjoy.
