Jimmy Tucker, Grain Valley High Schoolís football coach for the past three seasons, has resigned, the school confirmed via social media Monday evening.
Activities director Mike Tarrants said Tucker met with the team Monday afternoon. Tucker could not be reached for comment.
The Eagles went 6-5 in Tuckerís first season, but stumbled to 2-8 in 2012 and 4-6 (1-4 Missouri River Valley West Conference) in 2013. He came to Grain Valley to replace the retired Forrest Rovello after compiling a 46-24 record in six seasons at Class 3 Bowling Green in northeast Missouri.
Tuckerís replacement will inherit a program that had 76 players on last seasonís roster and graduates just eight seniors. Among the players scheduled to return would be quarterback Kellen Holland, who shared time last season as a sophomore, receiver/defensive back Evan Velasquez and several linemen.
