Micaela Barbosa and Christian Celmer were chosen as Rotary Club of Independence’s Students of the Month for January. Both are seniors at Fort Osage High School

Micaela is on the A Honor Roll. After class, she is a member of the high school’s debate and forensics team, as well as SkillsUSA, a workforce group. Once she graduates, Barbosa plans on attending Lindenwood to double major in both sociology, with emphasis in social work, and enroll in their fire/paramedic program where she hopefully will become a certified paramedic. Her parent is Ruth Bowen.

Christian has received an academic letter and appeared multiple times on the school’s A Honor Roll. After school, he was a member of art club and of both varsity football and track teams. He plans to attend the University of Missouri and major in engineering. His parents are Sean Celmer and Susan Kesling.
