  • Phi Theta Kappa inducts new members

  • An induction ceremony was held Feb. 15 for several area students who recently became members of Alpha Pi Sigma, the Metropolitan Community College-Blue River chapter of Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society. Phi Theta Kappa is an international society which promotes scholarship, leadership and service.
    Kristy Bailey of Oak Grove, who serves as vice president of the local honor society, received the Five Star Competitive Edge award for her successful completion of a professional development plan designed to strengthen marketable skills.
    The inductees are –
    Independence: Sara Cates, Kenneth Dyal, Leo Herndon II, Amber Honeycutt, Melissa Long, Ashley Manumaleuna, Heather Neal, Kalyn Parker, Kara Phillips, Janey Stephens, Sherry Tolly, Brittani Waggoner, Caitlin Crawford, Ashton Postlethwait, Haley Tyner, Zachary Zehnder, Paul Mitchell Jr., Sadie Bayless, Elaine Good and Zachary Felz.
    Grain Valley: Jessica Ault and Austin Williams.
    Blue Springs: Stephanie George, Allison Manuel, Colin Brightwell, Drew Knowles, Toni Smith, Meghan Schroeder, Dalton Slanaker and Lili Goodson.
    Oak Grove: Denielle Barnhill, Meagan Fossett and Miranda Valentine.

    Lee's Summit: Krysta Kirk.
