To help the Community Blood Center, the communities of Buckner, Levasy and Sibley will partner with the Blood Center at a mobile blood drive from 2:30 to 7:30 p.m. March 13 at the Masonic Lodge building, 610 S. Sibley St. (BB Highway), Buckner.
Every 4 minutes someone in our area needs a blood transfusion, and the Community Blood Center is the primary supplier of blood for the area hospitals. Accident victims may require up to 50 pints of red blood cells, while cancer, organ transplant, and open-heart surgery patients may require platelet transfusions. This winter's unusually cold temperatures, snow and ice have left blood reserves critically low.
To sign up, go to www.esavealifenow.org using sponsor code BSLCOMM or contact Delores Hirst at 816-650-3763. Please bring a picture ID to your appointment.
