  • Laureate Iota Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi started the sorority year with a salad supper at the home of Mignon Hollis for our June Call. We also celebrated our chapter birthday with cake and ice cream. We celebrated Beginning day at the home of Kelly Knudsen with a brunch.
We went to the home of Ginny Delgado in September and played Bocce ball with our husbands. Our chapter had a garage sale in September to help with our budget and support our service projects. Our service projects have been school supplies, food donations for the community, coats for Project Warmth, donation of socks and underwear for Tabitha’s closet, donations to Heifer International and to the Breast Cancer Fund and various supplies for classrooms at Kelly’s school.
Our chapter has attended the Preferential Tea and the Christmas event put on by the Independence City Council. In February, all of our members attended the Independence City Council Valentine Dance. Our chapter chose Ginny Delgado at the beginning the year as our Valentine Queen, but she passed away unexpectedly. Our chapter chose to honor her as our Queen, we asked all her family to attend the event. Her daughters, Brook and Anna, represented their mother, we were proud to have them be present for their mom. Each of the girls wore a tiara and received roses. A picture album of Ginny was presented to the family by our chapter.
