Both spring and Easter breaks in the Independence School District have been shortened by one day.

School will be in session on Thursday, March 27, and Monday, Apr. 21, according to district officials.

ISD spokeswoman Nancy Lewis said the district surveyed parents of students attending Independence schools and more than 80 percent of them agreed to shorten spring and Easter breaks due to the number of snow days accumulated so far this school year. District officials decided to decrease each upcoming break by one day in order to not move the last day of the school to a later date.

The last day of school will be May 23, barring any additional snow days. The 2014-15 school year begins on Aug. 12.
