EXCELSIOR SPRINGS, Mo. – Lincoln Prep was too much for the Van Horn girls basketball team Thursday night.

Despite a strong performance from Hannah Bishop and Malaea Ortiz, the Falcons fell 74-46 to top-seeded Lincoln Prep in the Class 4 District 15 semifinals at Excelsior Springs High School.

Bishop fired in 19 points and Ortiz posted 18 to account for all but nine of the Falcons’ points.

“They were the better team,” Van Horn coach Scorpio Horn said of Lincoln Prep. “Our top two girls played really well but that was a tough team we faced. We knew we had to play good fundamental basketball but we didn’t quite get it done. We’ll be better in the future.”

The Falcons fell behind 43-21 at halftime and couldn’t recover to finish 7-16 overall. Lincoln Prep (19-7) meets Liberty North (8-16), a 48-11 winner over Excelsior Springs, in Saturday’s 5 p.m. championship.
