  • A Jackson County Public Works employee was injured on the job Tuesday morning, according to Jackson County Sheriff’s Office.
Sgt. Ronda Montgomery said the worker was trimming trees in an area southeast of Grain Valley near Colbern and Stillhouse roads when a branch, approximately 8 inches in diameter, fell and struck him in the head.
“He was just doing his job and a branch fell,” said Montgomery.
She also said the employee was still conscious by the time Jackson County deputies arrived and taken to a local hospital where he is being treated for non life-threatening injuries.
“It was an accident,” said Jackson County Public Information Officer Dan Ferguson. “One branch quickly struck the employee.”
Ferguson also said that later Tuesday the victim was still at the hospital undergoing precautionary tests.
“He’s just being checked out and making sure everything is OK.”
