Four St. Patrick’s Day parades in Eastern Jackson County are scheduled in Independence, Blue Springs, Sugar Creek and Lee’s Summit.
Three of them begin at different times today (Saturday), and one parade is scheduled for Monday. You and your family might be able to attend all four of them!
Sugar Creek's Annual St. Patrick's Day Parade will begin at 10 a.m. today. The event will line up in the Heritage Center parking lot, beginning at 9:30 a.m. The parade will cover two blocks in downtown Sugar Creek. Afterward, the public is invited to continue celebrating St. Patrick at Kross's Lounge at 605 N. Sterling.
The ninth annual Emerald Isle St. Patrick's Day Parade will begin at noon today in downtown Lee's Summit. The parade's route starts at Southeast Eighth Street, then north on Green, west on Third Street and will end at Southeast Main Street in downtown Lee's Summit.
Beforehand, a traditional Irish breakfast will be served at The Mingle restaurant, 209 SE Main St.
And starting at 11 a.m., a gold coin hunt will be offered for children 8 years old or younger at the Howard Station Park, SE Main St. Prizes will be awarded to finders.
For the adults, a pub crawl will follow the parade in downtown Lee's Summit at participating bars. Participants may register at any downtown Lee's Summit bar for $10.
The 10th annual Independence St. Patrick’s Day Parade is today. The parade begins at 3 p.m. and will start at the Jackson County Shrine Club parking lot, 120 S. Pleasant St., in Independence.
The parade’s route goes north on Pleasant to Maple, east to Main, south on Main and west on Lexington, then back to the parking lot.
Prior to the parade at 2 p.m., live music and dancing will be featured in the Jackson County Shrine parking lot as well. And after the parade, a corned beef and cabbage dinner will be offered by the Jackson County Shrine inside their building throughout the day.
Along with celebrating St. Patrick himself, the parade will also be collecting donations for the Child Abuse Prevention Association.
The 37th annual Blue Springs “Shortest and Smallest” St. Patrick’s Day Parade in the world will be Monday in downtown Blue Springs.
Starting at 9 a.m., the parade begins at 1112 W. Main St. in front of Clay & Donna Swope’s Soda Founation and ends moments later directly across the street at “The Keg,” a tavern.
Pre-parade festivities begin at 8 a.m. with coffee and doughnuts being served at the Soda Fountain, along with The Keg opening its doors a few hours earlier after the parade to continue celebrating the holiday.
