    • email print
  • Putting Families First is just around the corner. April 20-26 is the 16th Annual Celebration for Putting Families First (Jackson County Family Week).
You can begin now by writing a 100-200 word nomination about a wonderful family you know. It's very simple.
Any family living within Jackson County is eligible to be nominated for “Family of the Year.” Nominate a special family by writing 100 to 200 words of why they deserve this honor (Try not to go over 200 words).
Your nomination should center on the theme of “Putting Families First.” Please avoid lists of community involvement, employment successes, or out-of-home extra-curricular activities. Focus on the family's interaction with each other, their commitment to their family time and how you personally have seen them “put their family first.”
Your nomination should include the family's last name and all of the family members' first names. We also need the family's mailing address and their email address, if possible. In addition, we need a contact number (home, cell, and/or office) for the family.
Likewise, please include your name, contact number, and your email address.
Submit your nomination by Friday, March 28, to “Family of the Year,” 1519 SW State Route 7, Blue Springs, MO 64014 or by email to Jacksoncountyfamilyweek@yahoo.com
Are you ready to have some fun?
In one month, grab your family and hurry over to the business specials and gold houses.
Have you seen the plans for St Mary's Health Fair?
Have you ever taken the family out for less than $5? You can certainly do that by stopping at Rick Ratz, (formerly Watsons Rolladium)?
Does you family need some copies? Visit the Blue Springs UPS Store and make all the black and white copies for $.04 per copy, during the entire month of April. You can't get any cheaper than that!
Looking for a simple family service project? During the week, donate some towels to Community Services League.
Remember, we are the longest-running family celebration in the nation, reinforcing the importance of the role of family in our society.
Remember, our week-long business specials, “Family Time” grand prizes, contests, speakers, and year-long Monday Family Days.
Last, but certainly, not least, remember Company of Champions, our quarterly meeting held for special needs' families. The first meeting of the year will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m. on April 23. This is a most exciting Bingo Night, held at Blue Springs High School Commons. We have thousands of prizes.
