  • Blue Springs police are asking for help in an investigation of a shooting that left a man injured Tuesday.
A 26-year old man was shot while exiting at Woods Chapel Road from Interstate 70 at about 8:25 p.m. Tuesday.
The man told police he was traveling westbound on I-70 and beginning to exit onto Woods Chapel Road when he heard several loud pops. He stopped on the ramp to check to see if one of his tires had a blowout and realized he had pain in his leg as he exited his vehicle. He then realized he had been shot in the leg.
The man was able to drive to a nearby relative’s apartment in the Kingsridge Apartment complex and had the family member call police and an ambulance. He was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The case remains under investigation and Blue Springs police are asking anyone with information to call Detective Brandon Claxton of the Blue Springs Police Department at 816-228-0145, the media hotline at 816-228-0100 or the TIPS Hotline at 816-474-TIPS (8477).
