A local group, Indy Energy, is holding a meeting on solar energy and how it might fit into plans for the city of Independence.
It’s at 10 a.m. Saturday at the North Independence branch of the Mid-Continent Public Library, 317 West U.S. 24. Mid-Continent is a co-sponsor of the event. It’s free and open to the public.
Scheduled speakers are:
• Paul Mahlberg, deputy director of Independence Power and Light, the city-owned utility.
• Brian Barton, director of government affairs and public relations for MCPower Companies of Lee’s Summit.
• Andy Knott of the Beyond Coal project of the Sierra Club.
In addition to the discussion of solar energy, those attending can ask questions.
